Winter in Red River
With a blanket of sparkling snow and Northern New Mexico's blue skies overhead, Red River is a winter wonderland. Grab your gear-or rent it here-and get ready for the coolest outdoor adventures. Red River Ski and Snowboard Area, located right in the center of town, is a short walk from most lodges. Check the website for snow conditions as well as special group and discount programs... then bundle up, and we'll see you on the slopes!

At the Red River Ski and Snowboard Area you'll find the attitude is laid back, the people are friendly, and with an average of 18 feet of snow each year and plenty of sun, the skiing and snowboarding at this Rocky Mountain resort is great! With the mixed terrain, ski-through replica of a mining camp, and terrain park, the mountain keeps skiers and boarders of all abilities entertained and challenged. Enjoy the ski area’s flaming torchlight parade at nightfall most Saturdays, or time your stay for Red River's own Mardi Gras celebration.

Red River Ski School
Whether you are just learning, or want to hone your skills, the professional instructors of the highly respected Red River Ski School offer instruction for skiers and snowboarders at all levels.

Youth Ski Club and Ride Packages
Whether your child is a first timer or an experienced mountain skier...this all-day package is for the kids! This is the most popular and best valued package at the Red River Ski Area, including morning and afternoon lessons, lunch with supervision, equipment and lift pass.

Three skiers take a break during a day of skiing and snowboarding on the bridge over the Red River, to relax and enjoy some conversation.
Youth Packages
The Youth Ski Center Ski or Snowboarding Package gives you the opportunity to tailor to your children's needs for a successful first time skiing or snowboarding. The Full Day Package includes lift ticket, rental equipment, lessons, and lunch with supervision.

Private Lessons
The Red River Ski School has a "one on one" instruction option. Private Lessons are offered based on availability of instructors. Check the website for lesson times.

Li'L Buckaroos Child Care
While you’re on the slopes, your littlest cowboy or cowgirl will be happy and comfortable in the Buckaroo Child Care Facility. Well-trained, attentive childcare providers watch your children aged six months to four years while you’re skiing. Lunch is included.

Snowmobile Tours
Take a 2-hour trip to the top of the ski area. Ride by the unfinished cabins built by miners in the old days and cruise through stunning aspen groves. Then stop at the "Tip Restaurant" and eat a light meal before you head back down the mountain. The Red River Ski Area provides all equipment, including snow gear (boots, jackets, pants, gloves and helmets). Drivers must be 16 with a valid driver's license, and children must be at least 5 years old to ride in the snowmobile tour.

Summer Activities at the Ski Area
Reconnect with family and loved ones this summer while cruising approximately 1,600 vertical feet to the top of Red River Ski Area on the new triple chair lift. You can strap your mountain bikes to the back of the triple chair, and cruise down the mountain on a variety of trails. Enjoy a rousing game of disc golf, hike around the Red River Ski Area and have lunch, or just catch a round trip ride and enjoy the simplicity of the Mountains.

This simple enjoyment includes breathtaking views of the Carson National Forest, The Town of Red River, and the native New Mexico trees, wildflowers, and grasses. Your senses will be delighted with the fresh the scent of crisp mountain air, the sounds of gurgling streams, wild birds, and the gentle mountain breeze.

Have you ever gone Snow Tubing? It's a blast! That's why the Red River Ski Area installed a new Summer Tubing area on their "Baby Blue" hill for more outdoor activities the whole family can enjoy. Throughout the summer, you can slide down the hill and take the Blue Chairlift back up to do it again!

Also new is the 9-hole Disc Golf Course on the top of the mountain. Disc Golf is a popular upcoming sport for outdoor enthusiasts, and fun for everyone. Wander through the Aspens with your friends and family and enjoy the beautiful views!
